Cateye LD610
BikeRadar verdict
"Loads of light & excellent construction & sealing make this the best-performing rear light, if you don't mind the slightly short run time."
One of the best rear lights money can buy, though it comes at the cost of only just over 60 hours of run-time.
The power button turns the light on in legal flashing mode, with a further single touch to cycle through constant then two further flashing modes.
You press and hold to turn off so no accidental blackouts. Cateye’s excellent Flex-Tight mount is a breeze to install and will fit both seatstays and seatposts of any diameter.
Powered by two AAA batteries housed inside a well sealed and well made unit, its light comes from five LEDs each with their own lens 'nest'.
We managed just under the claimed 30 hours of constant light with 29 hours and a few minutes, but longer than the claimed flashing time of 60 hours with just over 61 hours.

Light is ok but the fittings never last that well. This one lasted barely a season...

Brought to be seen, it's very bright. A nice light

Nice and thin - put it vertically behind your seatpost and it won't get snagged by undergrowth :)

Light good but dont like the fittings, they dont last well. Also difficult to mount anywhere if you ride with saddle bag.

Amazing light for the money. The fittings could be improved on slightly but mine hasnt come off yet. Super bright too, no way drivers can miss you even side visability is great.

Taking back my earlier rating - had two sets and both leaked eventually causing the connectors to corrode. If only they were waterproof!

I've got big thighs (very powerful ones) and the fitting catches o then so I cant put it on my seatpost!
Its ok I suppose

The light is pretty good - one of my colleagues was behind me the other day (during daylight) and felt obliged to comment on how bright it was just in the random mode.
But be wary of the belt clip accessory as it doesn't seem particularly strong and my rear light bounced off my seat pack somewhere between home and work this morning. :( I can't decide whether to get another one of these or get one of the others reviewed here.

rubbish parts - lasted only couple months. Can't switch the light off - switch has gone.

Light is fine; and have not problems with fittings.
Would far prefer if the switch needed to be held down to switch it ON, so it would turn itself on in your back during the day.

A great little rear light, does the job it sets out to do - it makes you more visible at night. There are a few niggles, yes the mount - I have had mine for a good year, if not more and I haven't noticed the degradation of the plastics. However I have removed mine and stored it indoors in a shed when not in use. It fits nicely into the pocket of even the smallest bags - the switch does have the tendancy to get knocked on though.
I have found that the plastic tab, that the grub screw which holds the mount on to the seatpost tightens onto, sticks out a long way and rubs against the inside of my leg. After adapting the tab with a pair of scissors this hasn't happened, but means there is not much for the screw to bite into when attaching back to the seatpost.
You can never tighten the screw tight enough as it just won't bite, this means the light tends to move about especially offroad.
Also unless you have tiny legs you'll probably find you'll need to fit the light vertically on the seatpost, otherwise you'll knock the light around so it's no longer visible.
Not sure on the waterproof front - haven't had any problems yet. I have got it damp once or twice and it's still working so far.

I've had mine for about 1 year, and it's great. Incredibly bright, sturdy, and issue free, overall. Looks slick on any bike!
As far as mounting it goes, it's best to mount it vertically and then tighten the hell out of the clip. This wedges it against the seatpost and stops it from moving around, keeping it pointed where you want it. This technique has kept it firmly in place on rough pavement.
Beyond that, the only annoyance I can think of is that it has a tendency to turn on in a bag, as the power button is big and easily depressed.
Great value for $20!
