Trelock BS610
BikeRadar verdict
"Below average performance at an above average price"
With a 16mm diameter shackle made from 'alloyed hardened special steel' measuring 230mm by 108mm, a double bolted locking mechanism and cylinder protection, Trelock's top of the range D-lock ticks all the boxes a good performing lock should, and comes with a Sold Secure Gold rating.
Our experience, however, was very disappointing. The BS610 caved in under manual attack in a little over a minute, with the lock mechanism casing bursting under the pressure, allowing the remains of the lock to be prised apart. Under the power tools, the shackle held up better but still gave way in just under two minutes of abuse. For a lock that comes with a Sold Secure Gold rating, this is more than worrying. Perhaps our test sample was sub-standard in some way, but that doesn't let Trelock off the hook.

User review of Trelock BS610
I wish I'd read the review above before buying this product.
My problem with this product is a little different though. After about a week of use, the key snapped in half while I was turning it inside the lock. I am not a strong person, so i was very
surprised to see half the key still stuck in the lock, while the other half was in my hand.
At the time when the key broke, the lock was fastened to the bicycle frame. Fortunately I could still ride home. The next task was to remove the lock and frame bracket (ZB 502) from my bike. Before I could open the frame bracket, I needed to loosen its band. Under the title 'Disassembly', the instructions show a picture of a hex key heading towards a point on the frame bracket which should be broken open. Well, when I broke this section of the bracket open, there was no obvious place for the hex key to go. I ended up cutting through the band so that I could send the lock to Trelock for replacement.
Trelock however, didn't want to replace the lock. They removed the remains of the key from the lock and sent it back to me, without a replacement key. What to me was clearly a material failure, was to Trelock misuse. Trelock claimed that I should have oiled the lock. So now you know: If you ever buy a D-lock from Trelock, make sure you oil it before using it!
