Squire Locks SS50CS/G3
BikeRadar verdict
"Very tough and a decent length"
First impressions of this Squire were mixed. The padlock is superb, the shackle is hidden making it impervious to attack, the casing is armoured and the mechanism is up to Squire's usual high standard.
However, the chain looked a little cheap - the dull alloy colouring made it appear soft and we were confident it could be cropped. We were wrong. This is tough stuff indeed and the shiny finish meant the croppers just wouldn't bite and slipped and slid. Our hammer, chisel and axe made barely a mark and after five minutes all that was damaged was our egos and arm muscles.
Test two - power tools of a certain quality are going to get through anything, and in just under a minute and a half we'd got through this chain. We'd still recommend it for that excellent padlock, handtool resistance and the very usable 1.2m length.

User review of Squire Locks SS50CS/G3
The gold coloured version of this chain was fine indeed for a 13mm chain, lasted 63 seconds under the croppers (verified on several videos), however since going silver the quality has plumetted and the crop time is anywhere between 2 seconds and 10 seconds. I suspect a process fault and I hope Squire sort it out, they make some good kit. The SS50 padlock is a cracker though, very nice.
