Dahon's range of folding bikes is huge and includes several new models every year. This makes keeping track of them all a bewildering task - although generally a very pleasurable one as they always seem to have something new up their sleeve.
This racy, well-priced offering is a Dahon in all but name. Just consider the spec for £399: Kinetix Comp CNC machined rims, Schwalbe Marathon Racer tyres with Race Guard and eight derailleur gears with very smooth Revoshift/Tiagra shifting, covering an impressive 294 per cent (31-91in) spread.
Narrow they may be, but bicycles take up a surprising amount of space, especially where there isn't much to start with. This makes them unpopular with, for example, the British railway authorities,
Folding bike specialist Dahon, with a little help from Ritchey and MTB pioneer Joe Murray, have created a great looking well equipped MTB in the Flo, that almost completely disguises the fact you can break it in two and put it in a 80x70cm carrying case.
The trick with the Dahon Hammerhead is to metaphorically close your eyes just before mounting it. This is because the thing looks pretty weird but rides brilliantly.
