Keen Commuter Shoe | $115
BikeRadar verdict
"Comfortable, well made SPD sandals with a quirky style"
Well established in the world of trekking sandals, the Commuter is Keen’s first foray into the biking market, using an SPD mount and a stiffer sole for more efficient pedalling.
They’re very well built, with chunky lugs offering decent off-the-bike grip, an enclosed bumper to protect your toes from stray stones, and a removable, anatomic and anti-odour footbed.
Stretch neoprene and a cinch cord makes slipping them on and off a doddle, though they’re not quite as stable for pedalling as a Velcro strap design, like Shimano’s much cheaper SD65s.
We’re not sold on the looks but they’re a good option for summer pedalling or touring in hot, damp climates.
