Union SP-5900 (09) | $80.38
BikeRadar verdict
"Good pedals, but Shimano’s PD-M324s are better"
These Union pedals are flat on one side, with an SPD cleat on the other. As such they’re the perfect solution for a bike where you flip-flop between using bike shoes and street shoes, such as a commuter that doubles as a tourer – even if they’re seldom the right way up when you set off.
They’re also high quality when compared to most own-brand variants of Shimano’s venerable PD-M324 pedals, with smooth cartridge bearings and easily adjustable spring tension.
However, they’re nearly as expensive and they lack the user-serviceability of the cup-and-cone bearings that enable you to keep PD-M324s turning sweetly on a workhorse. Weight is 446g a pair.
