The Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival and the Superior Morgul will share the venue at one of Colorado’s most famous racecourses, the famed Morgul Bismark, which hosted a stage of the Coors Classic and was featured in the 1985 film, American Flyers.

For the past four years, the Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival have hosted a regional gathering of custom frame builders, component and accessory manufacturers, distributors, cycling service providers, and non-profits. “It’s been incredible to see this event grow, and to see the community come together around it,” said event-owner Carol Johnson of Miles Ahead Events. “Finding a home in Superior and partnering with Without Limits-Boulder Racing will allow us to really grow this event and make it a staple on the national cycling calendar.”

The Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival will take place in conjunction with the Morgul’s downtown criterium on 19 May. The three-day Superior Morgul features a Friday evening Time Trial on 18 May, the downtown criterium, and the famous Morgul Bismark road race on the 20th.

A smaller expo will also be situated near the finish of the road race on Sunday to entertain race spectators.

The weekend’s races will be bolstered by the Rocky Mountain Bike Festival’s activities. "The past two seasons the Town of Superior has done an amazing job with their kids zone, on course expo, and post race festivities," said Lance Panigutti owner of Without Limits/Boulder Racing, and Superior Morgul promoter. “By bringing the Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival to the Saturday Summit Criterium and Sunday Morgul Bismark we're hoping to build on that momentum.”

The Superior Morgul’s roots stretch back to the days of the Red Zinger and Coors Classic, launching the iconic careers of US Stars like Davis Phinney and Ron Kiefel. The 2012 event will be the biggest of the modern era, with the addition of the Friday time-trial, a citizen's ride of the Morgul Bismark, and relationships with the US Pro Cycling Challenge, and Nature Valley Pro Chase.
