The May issue of MBUK is in shops now

Find out about all the good stuff we've got lined up for you this month

We don’t want to speak too soon (after all it snowed at the MBUK office recently), but it finally looks like the weather is on the up. Dusty conditions, not seen since the end of last summer are back and it’s time to get out, have fun and push yourself — but know how to do it without crippling yourself in the process!

  • Click here to subscribe to Mountain Biking UK Magazine today for just £48.50 every 13 issues PLUS receive a Lezyne Digital Alloy Drive Pump worth £69.99!

With this in mind, we’re giving away a free Get Out & Ride guide with each issue. It's packed with advice on how to get the most out of each and every ride and is perfect if you’re just coming back to mountain biking after a period away — and if that’s the case, then welcome back!

What’s more, this month’s bike test pits four £1,500 full-suss machines head-to-head, and the best of these would be an ideal rig to discover or rediscover your love of the trails.

It’s not all for beginners though and we’ve taken on a couple of pretty bold challenges, beginning with an adventure in the Middle East where we explore untapped pathways across the Lebanon and unintentionally blunder through a minefield.

The other trip to Slovenia couldn’t be more different. We spend a hectic seven days trying to chase down World Cup racers on a whirlwind tour of the country’s best riding spots.

As always, we like to remind you that you don’t have to get on a plane to have fun and in fact you can squeeze an adventure into a weeknight if you follow the example Joe Flanagan sets in his Evening Epic feature.

If you do fancy getting out there yourself then why not follow us as we visit Boreraig on The Isle of Skye and Nant yr Arian in mid-Wales.

The tech heads among you will be interested to read our feature on frame materials, which asks several prominent industry bike designers for their take on steel, aluminium and carbon, and which they believe is best.

We get up close and personal with Ruaridh Cunningham’s Sender CF, Canyon's newest team member, and we also test 15 cranksets as well as loads of individual products in Wrecked and Rated.

If that’s not enough to make you want to rush down to your nearest newsagents, we don’t know what is!
