Project Kim (Part 1)

For too long Kim's long-long-termer has sat in the MTB wilderness. With half an hour of boredom, a box of random parts and some abnormally-sized spanners the boys set to work...

Despite working at Britain's best bike mag, Ops.Editor Kim still rides into work everyday on an ancient Muddy Fox Mountaineer that used to belong to her Mum.  It was time for a change...

Now, rather than simply getting her a new bike or building up a fresh frame we decided to make the best of what we had. Down came the 'Big Blue Box of Randomness' from the top shelf and we got to work like the A-Team locked in a barn!

Half an hour later and the front end was done. Here's what we added and why;

- Continental Rubber Queen 2.35 tyre: fast rolling and light, not to mention fat as. Should get Kim steam-rollering those tricky pedestrian crossings in no time!

- NS Bikes District Bars: Slim fit risers for added stability and handling. We had to bend the old single-bolt stem open with a screwdriver to get them in.

- DMR LOCDD Grips (purple, cos she's a girl): More grip = more speed. Simple.

- Indicators: Complete with a head-light and a bit of speed these should hopefully fool motorists into thinking Kim is a motorbike and should, in theory, get them out of her way quicker...

- Kona Jack Shit pedals: Proper pedals for a proper bike!

That's all we've got on there for the time being but there's still the back-end to sort and we've got a LOT of MBUK stickers that need a home...
