We've got it covered

So, which special Olympic cover did your newsagent have? Which one dropped through your letterbox? Whichever one it was, I'm sure you'll agree that Olympic Champions Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins and Nicole Cooke deserve to be our October cover stars.
Of course we could have, maybe should have, had more. Victoria Pendleton and Rebecca Romero for starters. Or the team pursuit. Or the team sprint. Or Jason Kenny. Or Chris Newton. Or Emma Pooley. Or...well you get the idea! But we had to settle on three.
It was a tough choice, but Chris Hoy's three golds in one Games meant he had to make the cut, as did Bradley Wiggins defending his Olympic title in style. As for Nicole Cooke? Well, she started British Cycling's gold rush in Beijing and to my mind, Nicole's gold medal was the best. Arguably the world's best female rider in recent years, Nicole might as well have been invisible to the non-cycling press and public.
Well, hopefully her brilliant ride in appaling conditions has changed that and she gets the recognition she so richly deserves. But there's another reason we had to run Nicole's win on the cover. The pouring rain? The soaking wet Lycra? Yep, it's the cover that most resembles most of our own summer riding!
