All hail the new G.O.A.T!

Ric McLaughlin Monday, May 18, 2009 11.45am

As he broke the tape in Andorra Steve smashed his way into the history books to smash Nico's record of 16 World Cup wins.

Steve's seventeenth win cemented his position as the sport's greatest of all time and represented his second on the trot after cleaning up at the previous round in La Bresse.

The Santa Cruz Syndicate rider is rediscovering the speed which has eluded him at times over the last year or so. It's amazing to see Sheffield's finest back where he belongs on the top step.

We'd all just like to say a big congratulations to Peaty and that there's one in the tap for you at Bikeradar Live big man!
