Danny Mac's awesome new video
Rosee Woodland Monday, Sep 14, 2009 4.50pm
In case you're not one of the paltry 10 million people who saw his first video, let's just say that Danny MacAskill was something of a hit earlier this year.
His film for Inspired Bikes, shot by a pal over several months in Edinburgh, has become one of the most popular riding films ever made.
Now the YouTube wonderboy is back with a reprise of his earlier tricks, shot on an obviously higher budget for Scottish recruitment firm s1jobs.com.
Danny said: "I'm really excited about the advert, I was allowed to choose some of the wilder things I wanted to try and it looks amazing. Hopefully it will get a similar reaction to the YouTube video."
The film shows Danny appears to show on his average rainy Monday commute. Yeah right. It still rocks though, so without further ado...

Didn't C+ already do a 'stunts in suits' feature?

Awesome guy, utterly rubbish video compared to his previous footage.
That "obviously higher budget" has resulted in some poncy artistic director insisting on stupid camera angles that prevent us seeing the amazing stunts Danny can pull off.
This is exactly what i hate about modern action film fighting sequences, 80's kung-fu may be cheesey as hell, but you could tell they were doing legendary stuff, watch a modern fight sequence and its all blur-o-vision close up shots of a fist from eighteen different directions within the space of five seconds.
Sorry Danny, I know you're better than this video.

Have to agree with REMF...Danny is an amazing rider but the video doesn't do him justice. A bit over the top with the "artistic" shots. The close-ups don't always let you see the scale of the places he is riding.

If I had known someone was filming me in the morning commute I would have waved at he camera........
Yeah right, if I tried any of that the only place I'd be going is A&E

Not as fun packed as his usual stuff but this is "work" rather than fun, I guess S1jobs.com had some input

I wonder if advertising agencies will every bother coming up with their own ideas again when they can just steal or reappropriate ideas they find on the internet. Lazy tossers.
+1 on Danny being better than the video.

Well I thought the art direction was fantastic, but it sounds like from above I am going to have to go and find some other footage of Danny boy...

Criticize all you want, but:
1. He was able to use his amazing skill to get paid by a non-bike industry company
2. The video will get exposure with non-cyclists. Even a construction work (no slight intended) can recognize how awesome his riding is...and maybe a few will check out more of his stuff
No need to comment on the riding, as it is beyond what anyone here could dream of doing.
Agreed it wasn't as good as the Inspired video, but so what?
If he would have continued across the wrought iron gate, that would have been over the top...

Ha ha - that ends at my work, Abbey House St Vincent Street. I confess my cycle commute has slightly fewer bunyhops though, although I do try and fit in a 360 fakey front flip off a tree every now and then. That's why I'm writing this from A&E.

Some commute - he starts in Edinburgh, jumps off a car park in Aberdeen (we saw him on our way to work - amazing!) then trundles back down the road in time to start his 9 to 5...
Skills indeed. :-)

Agree, great ticks, technically good shots, but not appropriate for the tricks

no disrespect to him or his riding but he has majorly sold out, he's even in the sky advert

marinman - define 'sold out'. Does selling out mean using your skill to leverage media coverage to earn a wage? Thus Peaty, Minaar, Chris Smith, Martyn Ashton are all also 'seeling out'.
Don't moan that your sport doesn't attract enough support, coverage, funding if in the same breath you're criticising a rider for 'selling out'. Sponsors don't just throw money at talent, an athlete needs to be a rounded sponsorship property to secure funding, even more so in minority sports like cycling.
The only riders who aren't selling out are those petulant urban youths currently residing at many skate park who may have the talent but refuse to 'sell out' and will therefore be destined to a life lived at home, playing PS whatever and shaking the dice over soft porn magazines hidden under their mattresses. Don't know their names, infact you never will as they refuse to 'sell out'.
The word professional means more than just wearing a logo.
Respect to Danny - I know he has turned down a number of lucrative deals already as he wasn't comfortable with them. Both his immense skill on the bike and his attitude off it will mean he'll be around for some time.

+1 Tarquin
The millions of hits on youtube wasn't paying his rent or putting food on his plate.
More power to him!

Another +1 for Tarquin. Throwing out phrases like 'sold out' is just lazy.
