Greg LeMond, speaking on doping at Santa Clara University

Gary Boulanger, US editor Wednesday, Apr 2, 2008 5.58pm

Three-time Tour de France winner and multiple world champion Greg LeMond spoke about ethics and doping at Santa Clara University on February 17, hours after the finish of the Tour of California prologue in nearby Palo Alto. Procycling's Daniel Friebe and I were there, and instead of trying to capsulate the more than one-hour dialogue with San Francisco Chronicle reporter Gwen Knapp, we give you a snippet from the talk below.

LeMond has become an outspoken critic of doping in cycling, the sporting side of which he dearly misses and would like to see fall under massive reform. His comments that evening were open, frank, and in stark contrast to what's being reported in the mainstream media.

What do you think of LeMond's comments from Santa Clara? Here's the full discussion.
