Marc Beaumont assesses his Fort William performance

Marc Beaumont Wednesday, Jun 11, 2008 12.34pm

Fort William has got to be one of the hardest races on the World Cup circuit. Coming into this one I had no points on the board, I was carrying an injury which I was unsure of and British Team selection was resting on this race. Backs to the wall? Understatement of the century!

I decided to miss the first day of practice as I know where the course goes, pretty much. On Thursday, the second day of practice, I did three runs taking it nice and steady and checking lines. Straight away it felt like a big improvement on last weekend in Anodora.

Slowly building my speed during practice I steadily got faster, qualifying 27th on Sunday with a good, solid run. I managed to pick it up in the finals and came in 14th. I now feel like I have got a result to build on for the rest of the season and I also got myself a place on the Worlds team which is great. I'm really looking forward to that, the Worlds is always a great event.
