Back up to
I reckon I could draw a map of the track and every rock, root and turn just from memory! Practice went well and I felt confident with my bike setup. I rode seeding really well at the top of the track, nice and smooth but felt pretty fast. I got all out of shape in the woods and also coming out of them and pretty much stopped twice. I finished fifth but felt like I could probably take a good eight or ten seconds off my time with a good tidy run on Sunday.
I felt good on Sunday and only did two practice runs in the morning, saving my energy for the final run. It turned out to be a frustrating run where nothing went quite right, nothing too wrong but definitely not as fast as I should have gone.
I only took two seconds off my seeding time and finished fifth again. Not what I wanted, but it isn’t a bad result overall and I am still in with a shout of winning the series. Next race is the National Championships, a race I always look forward to and this year it is on one of my favourite tracks - Bala.
