We are the cyclists...

Rob Spedding Tuesday, Dec 4, 2007 10.03am

No doubt some of will find this You Tube clip from the comedy cartoon show Monkey Dust deeply offensive but it made me laugh out loud. No it's not porn, just what I reckon is a scarily accurate portrayal of what many people think are typical cyclists.

What d'ya reckon?

  • I thought the video was hilarious - some of the comments on youtube from drivers are a bit more alarming though.

I'll admit, a lot of Bristol's cyclists really do deserve to have their bikes wrapped around their head but don't paint us all with the same stick - I always stop at crossings and red lights, I never queue jump unless it's completely safe either.

Only last week a driver didn't see me on a roundabout and pulled out from the right nearly hitting me - for that little stunt I received a w***er gesture, not an apology. I still cannot understand what HIS grievance was unless it was because I was one of those bloody cyclists!

  • Funny stuff, Rob. Cyclists in the Bay Area can be somewhat aloof as well. Cool animation.

  • they should have the drivers instead pulling infront of us and then braking, w***ers every day im going home and a car pulls out merely inches from me and braking for a speed bump so i (kindly) kick their car on the way past and show them my finger, not enougth i say we should protest by carrying rocks and keys for their mistake and for us unlicky ones who get hit make sure something wrecks the car like in my early days on a bmx when i was 11 a car ran a red light as i was stopping so i threw the bike into the side of the car and the stuntpegs went in a treat, i say job well done! revenge is sweeeet!

  • Hands up - I'm probably one of those Bristol cyclists.

Admittedly do get great joy winding people up though

I feel so much better for confessing

  • Anyone who doesn't find that hilarious are taking themselves way too seriously!
