World Mountain Bike Championships - Day 1

The World Mountain Bike Championships get under way this
week in Val Di Sole, near Trento in northern
The track’s finish area is based in the otherwise sleepy Italian village of Commezzadora and has been used for two European downhill championships, so although familiar terrain meets the downhill riders it's a whole new venue for the cross country and 4X riders.
The first event however is the cross country Team Relay tomorrow. It's a busy week of downhill and 4X practice for Marc and Will though, until the main events over the weekend.
Will reports from day one…
Today was first the day at the Worlds. Always a special
event every year. We are staying with the whole
Marc said: "Its the most full-on track I have ever seen with no let up from start to finish, it's full of steep sections strewn with roots and rocks, with a flat out finish. Worthy of a World Championships for sure, the winner will be a true champion of downhill skills."
After that we came back and Marc had a play on his bike which Alan (mechanic) had been working on all day, buzzing around the streets, letting off a little steam, we did the tourist bit and checked out a few sites around the village. Things get under way tomorrow so more news and views from the hill to follow soon.
