Specialized Bicycles Comp Shoes | $165
BikeRadar verdict
"A well thought-out and instantly comfortable pair of shoes. Recommended"
Specialized have a long history of producing quality cycling shoes, and this Comp one is no exception. Its construction uses basic materials to great effect, with good design and quality cobbler work.
Your foot is locked down with two Velcro straps and a single ratchet strap, and the nylon sole is stiff, so power transfer feels good.
The grips on the sole are well laid out to make engaging the pedal a doddle, but they're quite hard. Combined with the stiff sole, that makes walking a bit skittery.
Body Geometry soles and insoles give a more natural position for your hips and knees, and the arch support is claimed to increase power transfer. It’s hard to quantify whether power transfer is actually increased, but we did find that the shoes were very natural feeling and incredibly comfortable.
