Lidl bike gear back in town
On the tools and workshop side of things there’s a mini tool kit for £4.99 including glue, repair patches, combination spanners, a multi-tool with five hexagon keys, slotted and cross head screwdriver.
There’s a floor pump with pressure gauge for £4.99 and a twin cylinder foot pump for just £2.99. Stuck for space in your shed or garage? The wall mounted bike rack at £6.99 might be worth a punt.
Storage on the bike is covered with a rear pannier bag set for £14.99, there’s also a five litre handlebar cool bag with a transparent map compartment at £4.99 – useful for touring or a picnic jaunt.
Other items on offer are cycling-specific jacket, shirt and gloves – all at a budget price, and judging by past feedback and user-reviews, they’re worth trying for such a low price.

If you are starting out, are short of cash or are plain stingy this is just cheap and cheerful. Had a bike computer from them last year that works most of the time and had a heart rate monitor in it - not bad for about a tenner. Friend got one too until he destroyed it. Also got the under saddle bag with all the spanners etc and that has been used too - it was about a tenner I think. Finally, got lights - back one fits my road bike fine, but the front one doesn't fit on the roadbike bars [bars too fat?] so is on the mountain bike. I could well easily have paid double +++ for this gear at our [excellent] local indy shop, but I am happy enough.

I don't shop at places that have signs that they will fine you if you stay in their carpark too long.

Bargain hunting cyclists might also want to pedal to their nearest Tchibo store as they have a few cycling oriented items in store this week. I think the stock might depend on were you live, but they seem to keep unsold items for longer than a week nowadays. I can recommend their coolmax type t-shirts a summer base layer - much cheaper than sports makes. The cycling top looks okay, but the colours?! They have shorts at £12, top £14 and a solar/battery powered bike computer with 30, mostly unmentioned, functions for £6.99. Also a lock and a large saddle that looks suitable for lard-asses.

I've had several bits of kit from the range from a few years ago and whilst it not the highest quality its better then most of the over priced branded muck that you see. The sizing info could be better though!
