The Hands Up survey is due to take place on the 8th to the 12th of September and encompasses 31 local authorities, giving the opportunity for around 700,000 students to talk about how they currently travel to school.
Sustrans has spearheaded a number of initiatives in recent years to encourage pupils to ride or walk to school. One of their most notable is the Safe Routes to Schools scheme, which is aimed at improving road safety, reducing child casualties and cutting down traffic congestion and pollution.
The feedback should highlight the effectiveness of the £10m of funding Sustrans has provided over the last three years, identifying the areas that have benefited most and those that Sustrans will target for future initiatives.

As a further incentive, all the schools that participate in the survey get the chance to win a visit from a stunt bike team. For more information please visit Sustrans’ website at www.sustrans.org.uk.
