... on the lookout for a white aluminium frame for race use, so i'd like it to be nice and stiff.... anyone got any favourites or recommend one?

They were rated very highly when (I think it was) Unibet were riding Canyon. Never ridden one myself though.

Canyon are definitely premier frames. If you can afford one then go for it. Rated highly. German frames I believe and I'm not sure if a UK distributor or any dealers exist.

Yet sending the current F8 frame into the 2008 season without improvements would not be good enough for us. Analogous to the F10 improvements, the F8 chassis was entirely revised. Efficient power transfer, incredible handling stability, low total weight and a damping are indispensable to a premium aluminum frame. The original design of the frame was initially defined by a variety of FEM (Finite Element Method) optimization algorithms. Responsibility for the unique performance and look of a Canyon frame is ultimately provided by genius bike designer Lutz Scheffer. The new asymmetric Maximus seat tube on the new F8 frame is connected to a slightly smaller bottom bracket shell compared to the former model and a new chain stay design provides improved stiffness at a lower weight. Comfort characteristics are achieved by means of smaller 11mm seat stays combined with a more compliant seat tube junction and a 27.2 mm seat post. Inside the oversized head tube of the F8 frame sits an entirely new OneOneFour SL fork. The Conical oversized head tube tapers from 1-1/2” to 1-1/4” and is 40% stiffer and more durable yet weighs no more than conventional tubes. Just like on the F10 frame, the F8 makes use of a German made headset which needs no wedge or star nut to adjust preload and the differing diameters of the bearings provide highest load capacity. As a benefit, the lower bearing is installed deeper within the head tube and is better protected from dirt.. And lastly, an innovative replaceable derailleur hanger is now stiffer, allowing for more precise gearshifts.
But I'm sure this all comes for a price. Probably feels great though.

And just over 2 grand for the Al Ultimate 9.0 SL model, nice.
Dunno about an outlet but seems you can deal them with direct, which I think it a good idea. No middle men putting their bit on. It would be interesting to see if you settle on this henderson_mk and your experiences with the company.

I bought an F10 - Carbon big brother - and found the customer service and shipping process to be first rate, and the frames are tip top. Would have thought youre being killed by the exchange rate right now, though

Having owned a Kic2 and currently riding a Ridley Compact, both are good but I prefer the Ridley. Probably for no other reason than I prefer the looks of the Ridley.

Ive got the older (ie 2007 model) and do a lots of mountains (hills!) here in Mallorca. Cornering downhill its incredibly smooth, with no juddering or wavering from its line. Uphill I cant get brakeor chain rub at all despite being 90kgs and having to work like a *****to keep up with my buddies, but of course having some chunky Fulcrum Ones does help that. Its certainly stiff enough for me, but if you were 20kgs lighter it may well be TOO rigid over the bouncy stuff.
Only slight criticism is I dont think the finish is very durable - picked up a couple of small gellcoat dings when my dogs or kids knocked over the bike, but I cant really say if another lightweight CF bike wouldnt have suffered the same damage. And for 850€ (used to be GBP 500!) it was a REAL deal.
Fitter....healthier....more productive..... |

One of the new 09 Cannondale CAAD9 colourways is white.... at last in the US.
