That spec can't be correct.. 900 lumens at 1000mA?
2 other sites say 1500mA or 2400mA and 700 - still impressive though.

Was it a magicshine you ordered?
A mate of mine ordered a p7 torch, charger and batteries on the 5th of October and his is in the packaging stage. |
Yes, it was a MagicShine! |
Order shipped! Mail just received! |
Fing typical, mine still says waiting for supplier
Strange if they were ordered on the same day

Took the plunge a couple of weeks ago and bought the P7's. Went for 2 and gonna put 2 of my tesco torches on the helmet. I've bought stuff from DX before and not been bothered about the wait but this seems like forever
Order just updated to, The item (xxxxxxxxxx) will leave Hong Kong for its destination on 14-Oct-2009

Tried there but got no reply...torch comes with a 5 mode switch (i could get away with 3mode hi/med/low switch), but best offer doesnt state if its a simple on/off or multiple modes switch. They seem to be non existent in the UK, tried the candle power forum aswell with no luck (well no reply).

The 2 modes are different - these have no driver and use a resistor in the switch.
To clarify, my 1st post is for the 5 mode torches.

As sonic says...
That is because the mode is in the driver not the switch. a simple on of switch will cycle through the modes. When you half press it just brakes the contact lightly. I know this because I was experimenting with external power supplies at different voltages to see if it was brighter or not - id didn't make a difference. if you want to check this unscrew the tail cap and use a piece of foil to make contact with the battery and the tube. it will cycle the modes
to those ordering items - note their is a £15? limit before you have to pay taxes, so break the orders up unless there is a postage issue. note also DX and BOB are based in HK/China you have no consumer protection beyond paypal, so keep your orders small and your risks low. I would recommend them, but buy with caution

just had my deal extreme magic shine charger go pop whilst emitting a nice toasted plastic smell. luckily for me (i think) my nukeproof lights charger fits the magic shine battery pack and as its basically the same 4 cell pack i reckon it should work. im out in the morning so when ive run the battery down on my magic shin ill try it on the nukeproof charger. i was gonna use a 110 volt converter on the magic shine just to be safe. for all others who own or have ordered the magic shgine i would advise using a 110volt converter. i got mine from maplin for £8.99. i think the charger is on its limit with 240 volts. on a side note the magic shine actually puts out more light than the 5 times more expensive nukeproof light. i rode around llandegla on a night ride with both lights to compare and was shocked to find a £250 light ass whupped by a far east cheapo. i didnt pay for the nukeproof as i got it as a warranty replacement for a much cheaper light that could not be fixed or replaced. i will let you all know if the nukeproof charger works as it woul be good for anyone else who blows theirs. also the nuke is a smart charger and made for our voltage. also just discovered that the magic shine works off the nuke battery

hi all, i have read the thread with great interest over the last couple of weeks whilst i decided what lights to go for. After weighing up the cost a P7,C1, charger, batteries and turbo ferret (plus the risk of killing the turbo ferret as i not sure on my soldering skills). i decided to pay a little more and went for a LUU light from On One. the 2 cell version. it came with both helmet and bar mount, charger and 3 different lens covers(which work really well). reasons for buying the more expensive light, wanted a warranty and come back if anything broke as i dont really want to have to pay for replacement part if it breaks. wanted a longer running time than one battery. delivery was two days from order and the build quality is really good. light is as bright as i expected from all the p7 shoots i have seen and i more tha n enough for the trails i ride (clent hills).
hope some one finds this useful as the information on the thread have saved me buying a lupine or night rider and wasting hundreds of pounds
