Today I came off when going through a tight bend full of wet leaves. My front tyre lost grip and the rest is history, I was going quite slow too – probably 6 or 7 mph max. No major harm done, only some road rash on my left thigh.

Most of you probably know this already but for those you don’t watch out for them! Smile

We've talked before about the danger of these blighters whether they are the "wet on road" or fly straight into your face "alien stylee" variety.

I have experienced both in recent days. Be careful out there people. Remain vigilant.

yup slippery stuff, luckly my commute bike is big solid town bike so even front wheel grip loss isn't fatal just tends to drift a bit.

Last year there was a real plague of SCRers getting hit by falling leaves. It was a bloodbath. Be careful, kids.

Also, watch out for leaves that look dry on top but are wet underneath. They can kill in one bite.

Be careful not to ride over wet manhole covers* or road markings while avoiding wet leaves. In fact, if it's wet phone work and explain that you can't come in because it's simply too dangerous.

*also be very wary of ones falling from trees.

Last year I was commuting on a MTB with 1.5 slicks and even in the snow had no issues, however on my Ribble with 700*23's I noticed I was slower into some corners the other night when the rain was hammering it down and the roads were greasy, This winter is going to be more of a challenge I suspect Smile

Bristol railway path between Fishponds and Clay Bottom is leaf mulch city this time of year. Even my fatboy 2" knobbly MTB tyres skid a bit. Confused
