That is heavy, my daughters Shogun undercuts that by a good margin (although nopt as good a spec)......
Mind you still lighter than some of the 8" downhill bikes some people like to XC on....
For anyone trying this, Merlin do shimano groupsets at good prices!

to kick up the quality another step, replace the fork with a mz supercomp, for a fiver more, an acera mech for £3 more, and a avid single digit 5 brake for 4 quid more and it looks very nice...

u need to give weblinks to them items to prove they are real.

brakes and mech are from chain reaction, forks are merlin ( i think, i may have forgotten, otherwise they are at winstanley for just a fiver more)

another thing you guys are forgetting is that the average person who buys a B.S.O isn't gonna have the time or knowledge of putting a bike together. So you're gonna have to factor in labour costs too?

labour costs could be another thread, when the spec list starts to look good ill be first to build it.

Add any of the forks above and you still come in under £300......and have some to sell better than the average zoom/suntour cheapies!
