I can't comment on the Castelli Transparente, though it does look smart.
I bought the Assos Airblock 851, now that I can recommend... Wink

Bought one last week and really like it, likely to come in to its own when real winter kicks in. Really small made even by Castelli standards.

Managed to bag the last one at my awesome LBS for the bargain price of £50 so well chuffed.

£50?

You lucky sod! Can't find it anywhere on t'intarweb for less than £125 Shocked

Practically Assos territory isn't it....

Well anyway, seeing as you have one dov, do you wear it more like a jacket or more like a jersey?

i.e. always a base layer underneath, or would you wear it on it's own on the warmer days?

I'm just concerned that if I buy one at some insane price, and it's best worn next-to-skin, I don't want to have to run the ol' washing machine every day keeping the damn thing clean. I aint buying 2 or 3 that's for certain, eek! Shocked

Bought one after posting this thread. Got to say, great bit of kit. Not only has great styling, but it actually does the job. The fit is great and also warm as it has a fleece type back and arms. Great venting with a full zip and a soft high collar which can be put down. All in all, its a great purchase. I reckon in winter, wearing a long sleeve base layer and this jersey will do the job. The winstopper is so smooth and flexable. I would highyl recommend this jersey. Also, very well made!

Yes indeed, looking at the sizing guide on Wiggle, it says 'XS' for 88 cm chest 'S' says for 92, M for 96.

Everyone seems to disagree though, is that because they wear them a bit baggier than Castelli intend or because the sizing guide is completely wrong?

I don't think I can buy any, my chest size is around 76 CM.

Well, I'm a 40" chest and a large does me fine, they are a race type fit.

Race fit is great if you have a race fit figure Embarassed

I wear it slightly bigger ie not cling film tight and it looks fine. I have other Castelli tops in large and sized one up on this.

I wore it last weekend which was around 12 degree's without a base layer and it was too hot. Shouldnt imagine it will be too long where I live for it to be at its best.

Bugger, if you're a 40 and L (39.5 according to the guide) is giving you a fairly tight, racey fit then I may be out of luck.

Not many companies do XXS for men Sad Anyone know any companies that do make stuff for the smaller person?!

Hi Snellgrove,

I find myself in a similar position to you. My chest size is only about 32inch - 80cm. I have a Rapha softshell gilet in size Small, this worn with a skintight base layer fits brilliantly. So a Rapha small jersey would fit you I reckon - its just the damn cost !

I am on the look out for a long sleeve jersey for the colder days coming up and short of Rapha I am stuck at the moment for anything that would fit well.

Cheers for the advice there Smile

I've ordered a Trasparente anyway, if it doesn't fit I'll just return it.

Today, I looked on Assos, Castelli, Campagnolo, Endura, ...pretty much all of the manufacturers that Wiggle stock and hunted down the sizing guide.

Interesting thing is that the Castelli sizing guide is only available on castelli-us.com and not on castelli-cycling.com (Well, I couldn't find one anyway) - I'm hoping the size chart is Americans Wink I'm living in hope I guess - I really want a Trasparente, the design is fantastic.

Anyway, most manufacturers don't go anywhere near small sizes really. Rapha seem the best in this department.

As for base layers, I've got some Skins long sleeve tops, they make them all the way down to XXS which is something like 72 cm chest?! or something - low 70's anyway.

Also, just got their FUSIONE jersey. Lovely fleece like material inside, great for those winter morning rides!

Will do! ProBikeKit said it shipped today (not bad seeing as I ordered it quite late last night - and I even went for the free (5 day) delivery too! Very Happy )

Can't wait for it to arrive, but I can't get my hopes up too much - I just hope it fits alright Confused

I went on pro bike kit for the first time today and found some Craft L/S base layers with 60% off, so picked one up. If it fits well etc will go back for some more.

Looking at wiggle the Sportful cabrio softshell is also a bit of a head turner. Why is cycling seemingly a never ending story of spending Very Happy

Well, it turned up today around lunch time Very Happy

Obviously, I wore it on the way home as it was bloody freezing today (Just Baselayer & Jersey on the way in Shocked COLD!! )

I was actually really hot on the way home, and I'll probably wear the jersey without anything underneath tomorrow.. I think I'll be warm enough Smile

I ordered the S size, and I think my chest measurement is something like 76cm. So I think the size chart on castelli-us.com is way off, as their S size is for 82 or 84 or something size chest Confused size guide for Americans?! Wink

The fit isn't skin tight which is expected as it's a jacket/jersey hybrid thing, but its fairly snug. Oh and because it's Castelli, it looks great Cool

I still think it's a shame they dropped the thumb-loops as still pictured on Wiggle though, but overall I'm happy & would recommend one.

Must fight temptation .... FAIL.

Ordered one from wiggle along with the Sportful Cabrio top, will keep the one I prefer, or if neither is right just send them back.

Just wish the weather would dry up for the weekend Sad
