I just bought some gridlock trousers yesterday for commuting (my physio's told me to ride as much as I can - so it's the perfect excuse/motivation Wink )
They're just waterproof material, which would be pretty cold against your skin, so I'm planning on wearing something like ron hill tracksters underneath them, or thermal leggings - and change into my normal clothes when I get to work.
I'll let you know how I get on.

I was going to ride in today, but I felt rotten this morning, must have eaten something last night that disagreed with me.

Yea i'm hoping to ride this weekend but am currently recovering from a fecking cold.... my lungs are so sore from coughing!

I guess I could just wear an old pair of tracksuit bottoms... got loads knocking about Smile

Also got the alpine stars mud jacket in my basket... for £19 it'd be a pretty good emergency jacket to keep in my trail pack I think?

Ive got a pair of berghaus aquafoils and normally wear a pair of endura padded boxers or a thin pair of padded shorts in warmer months, in the winter a pair of 3/4 length thermo bib tights!! My mates wear tracky bottoms and a pair of padded pants, its all personal choice to be honest!!

I wear padded shorts and lycra leggings under mine, the feeling of the waterproofs against the skin is minging particularly once they're wet on the outside, lycra also helps them move smoothly as you pedal.

Juay another quick question... How do the endura's size up? Are they baggy enough for good movement and a pair of trackies? Looking at the sizes I'd need a large waist wise, but I've got huge calves and thighs!

I usually have problems with my "rugby" thighs, and end up having to buy 36" waist trousers, or I look like I'm wearing emo jeans.
But a Large in the Endura gridlock was fine, but I did buy one size bigger, so that I could have the potential of wearing armour underneath - I really wihs I'd had decent waterproofs in the Alps!

Hmm. Well I have singletrack 3/4 shorts in xl and they're miles too big on the waist but rather tigh on my calves.
Think I'm gonna have to get the large and see what happens Smile

sucks being big. My shoulders are so wide that most t-shirts end up lookin like crop tops lol!!! Hense why I only ever ride in big rugby tops!

The only T-shirts I have at the moment are "weird fish" ones, because everybody else seems to have decided it was a great idea to put tiny pipe-cleaner arms in their T-shirt designs. Bloody stupid.

I got my gridlocks from the local bike shop by the way, so I had a chance to try them on first. The large was fine, as I said, but I opted for the X-large for armour space.
The shins are close fitting, but not tight in any way - just close enough to stop them flapping around and getting caught in the chain.

I'm a shade under 34" waist, but too big to get in a 32" comfortably. They have a belt with them, so having a slightly larger belt is not a problem.

I rode in today in them, and they kept my legs nice and dry, and with ron hill tracksters underneath, my legs were nice and warm too.
It's promising a biblical amount of rain today, so they'll get a thorough test on the way home I should imagine Laughing

the waist is big yeah, but I wanted the legs to be baggy enough to fit armour underneath. The belt solves the waist issue, and it's elasticated anyway, so they're not like clown pants.
Like I said, I was lucky enough to be able to try them on in the local bike shop first.
Large fitted just fine, and even medium was ok, but the thighs/crotch were a bit tight on medium. I just wanted the armour space.

I carry a pair of MEC goretex overtrousers on my bike rack for seriously bad weather while commuting. I guess I actually put them on about 5 times a year and have worn them a handful of times mountainbiking aswell. I wear under them lycra biking shorts plus (in winter) endura tights.

I particularly like the MEC ones I have because they have double zips all the way to the hips, so you can open the tops of them to let the steam out. Sadly they don't make them any more, so that's no help to anyone Rolling Eyes
