I bought one from dealextreme direct from hong kong. £48 including all shipping.

They are really really good for the money, way brighter than my hope vision 2 which cos 3 times as much. They also look and perform very like the lupine tesla 5 which sells here for £325.

In my opinion you really cant go wrong

isnt 900 lumens a massive achievment from an LED light ?

Santa Cruz Chameleon - XT front/rear mechs, XT hollow tech, DMR V12's, sachs wavey shifters, Flight C2 saddle, USE seatpost, D521 XT wheel set, Azonic riser bars, FSA xtreme 2 headset, mazoochi Bomber drop off forks, avid ultimate discs

Just technology moving on i suppose....

The light has an emmiter that has 4 led things in it....Im no expert lol

I think they actually put out around 700 lumens....900 is a max

They are great lights, i rode with mine last night, amazing value for money.

Just a suggestion for Ebay, if you can edit the title and include MagicShine in the title, lots of people know them as the magicshine, i tried to find some the other day but no hits, you might get more interest

Rode sherwood pines with mine last night - bought direct from Deal Extreme in HK - was MUCH better than anyone else's £multiple-hundreds lights.

Check out

not really the torches are much more suited to helmet mounting!

There are 2 versions on the DX website, the Magicshine one & aonther that looks identical even down to the box albeit without the Magicshine brand but the no-name one has a helmet mount http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.29489

the light you linked to isn't the same although it uses exactly the same technology, it's twice the price of the dx package and is actually
still good value at £100 concidering you get uk backup etc. Looks a bit neater too I reckon. I'm happy with my magicshine but I wouldn't be averse to spending extra to get that light.

As for helmet mounting the magicshine it can easily done but you'll have to think outside the box a bit and source you're own mounting (or make one) torches are easier to mount to helmets (I have a p7 zip tied to a modified helmet) but they are heavier and the battery only lasts an hour before it needs changing.

An ideal set up would be magicshine on bars and magicshine on helmet I reckon

When buying mine I have also bought the extra strappy arrangment that you mention for exactly that helmet mounting, like ravey 1981 says you gotta think outside the box but I thought for only $1.99 if its crap then in the bin it goes.

Have just ordered one of these from DX... the one which includes the helmet mount kit. Will let you know how it goes once it arrives "in the fullness of time".

Curse you all, for tempting me to spend yet more money!

More muds plz.

I hve the helmet mount version and it's not really a helmet mount, more a head torch mount. It is a plastic plate with elasicated straps and won't fit a helmet. The plate could be easily fitted to the helmet with zip ties or something.

Anyone know if the DX light beam pattern is good for road riding ie commuting? Does the beam pattern dazzle drivers? Or does the light have to be run in the lower power setting.
thanks

shame the rider doesn't match the bike...
