Just wanted to see what people thought of the amount of travel i am getting out of my 2010 revelation. I want peoples opinions as to if i should be getting a bit more travel or if i am getting the maximum as it is.

Thanks. Although not new to biking i have never really bothered worrying too much about setting up and tuning my suspension to get the most out of it. Its taking a while to understand how i can extract the most from it and how it should feel.

i would run it a bit softer if that is as much travel that you will use. a softer setup will dive a bit more under braking but front end grip will be greatly improved. i usually blast down a set of steps or somthing very hard on forks and leave about 15mm spare
im 230lb and the sticker on my 2010 revs say 135+psi in upper and lower chambers but i run 120 in the top and 100 in the lower.

my advice with suspension is to not make one huge change, but a few small ones, with a -proper- ride test inbetween.
unless the ride before you took that picture was pretty flat and tame, you should start by dropping 5psi in both positive and negative chambers (assuming of course you know what pressure its at already). always lower the negative one first.
if dropping 5psi isnt enough, drop another 5psi...
it also might be worth checking your fork can actually achieve full travel by letting all the air out of the positive chamber and compressing the fork to see if the o-ring will touch the crown. Occsaionally a new fork comes with too much oil in the damper which can limit the travel.
no point paying for 5inches if your not going to use 5 inches

yep my 09 revealations had only 100mm travel from new, pushed down that last bit with no air and blew the oil out the MOCO seal.

I will check what air settings i have in my forks. I am 168lb.
I will check the amount of travel in the morning.

the general advice is to use all of your travel at least once every ride other wise it is wasted. i am definately wasting all of my travel on all of my bikes. id have to run my forks super soft to get full 160mm travel on my lyriks but if i fitted the bike with rebas, i still wouldnt achieve full travel as i tend to run my forks very hard due to my enormous bulk and if i dont, even compression damping cant keep up when i pull a great big handfull of brake lever.
i dont think it means i am riding with the wrong fork thuogh. we can get hung up on relatively unimportant details and its easy to be convinced that certain rules are true but in my case, right or wrong, i like to have too much travel for just incase moments.
these moments are uber rare for me i suppose but i like to have a view of the big picture, it might and when it does, i'll be ready.

Right got 115 psi in both the + and - chambers which is what is advised on the leg but i think if i drop these down a bit i should see a more supple ride.
I deflated them and the rubber ring does not quite touch the crown, its just under 1cm off it.

it will be softer yes, but the change might upset the fork during bigger hits and braking but thats why forks are adjustable, what suits one prrson might not suit another. Let us know how it feels after a ride.

Sheepsteeth, sounds like you might need a fork with tons of low-speed compression.

you're right for the most part. Im probs sending my fox to get pushed as it is an rl model and i could do with compression damping. Its not such a problem for my rs forks though. that said, i still like to run the forks and shock pretty hard.

I think if you managed t get a hell of a lot of low speed compression damping dialled in, you could probably run them much softer though, giving a smoother ride.
