I want to replace my chainrings sometime soon, going from 22/32 to 26/36 setup.

I have a Truvativ Firex GXP crank and I don't want to pay ly LBS to take the crank off and swap the rings over for me - seems like I should be taking care of a simple job like thqat myself.

What tool/s do I need to remove my crank, can anyond advise please?

Thank you!

The GXP system uses a one key release - just undo the bolt on the non driveside, and pull off both crankarms.

if it is missing the one key release buts then you need to use an ISIS crank puller.

I've not really had a look at it yet, and not home at the moment.
The one key release part - what is the "key" needed, is it a specific tool?

an allen key.

Oh right! I have them, but I don't know if I'd get enough torque to undo/tighten a crank bolt!
Perhaps I ought to use the opportunity to buy a torque wrench!

you should be able to do it with a normal allan key.

i think the outer extracting cap uses a 10mm allen key. dont touch the outter cap, there will be a smaller (8mm i think) allen bolt if you look through the 1st allen key hole.just undo the inner allen key bolt and it should pull the arm off.

Right, sounds well easy, I'll give it a go with the tools I have.
Thanks everyone for the advice!

16mm?????? i thought it would of been 14mm max, the thread in the end of the arm is only about 14-16mm

it is 16mm (5/8") but again not needed as you do not undo it.
