Yes, on a few occasions, always received good service, never had to wait an unreasonable time for anything. They even rang me once to tell me me what I had ordered would take a week to get in and apologised because it said in stock online.

Once and not again. I actually find winstanleys more efficient which goes against the natural laws of the universe

Yes, bought a Topeak pump, said to be in stock, 4 days later got an email and phone call to say it wasn't in stock (good service, I guess, to phone me), so I said okay, cancel.
2 months later the pump gets sent to me, card charged. I had bought one elsewhere
One off mistake or habit? Who knows.
I think part of the problem is that they are a proper shop, but their internet operation uses shop stock but isn't kept up to date with stock levels. This sort of thing is annoying because I want to know I will actually get what I have ordered. I stick to sites I trust now.

Everything I've tried to buy has resulted in a phone call from 'em saying the item is out of stock. On the plus side, they sent me something better for the same price.

Sounds like a shop trying hard but lacking basic stock control systems that work.

If you're getting a good deal on something then go ahead, give it a whirl. Bright side, you get the right order within 2 days. Dark side you end up wasting some time, you get messed about and end up with nothing.

What I would say is that if you ask enough people you'll find someone who has not received the best service from any of the mail order companies. I like CRC, but have heard hard luck stories when buying from them, I've never used Winstanleys because of the bad press, but no doubt some get on ok. You can always ring Tredz first to make sure they have stock of what you want.
For me the best are Leisure Lakes, never been let down once, and great service, instant delivery.

If you go in there, the staff are ok.
A bit pricey, but they sell a nice group of stuff compaired to other LBS.
I have never ordered on-line with them so cant say, but the shop is nice.

winstanleys may be ok on-line but their shop is a steaming pile of wa#k. usual time for getting served on a saturday is 2 hours. i once checked to see if they had what i wanted in stock then drove down there had to wait an hour to get served only to find what i wanted had sold out online. sad to say but over hte years ive spent a few thousand there but i aint gonna bother anymore. they were fine before they moved premises as they had a proper shop. now all they have is a huge warehouse with a counter at the front. if you want anything they find it on the computer then disappear into the warehouse for inordinate amounts of time whilst the queues of tutting customers grow. they really should get rid of the shop as its an afterthought and not a pleasent experience

I've never had any problems with them but then I only order small stuff. Usually you have to emphasise that a shop should be judged by how they handle problems as "i've had no problems" = "I've not had to deal with customer service" so doesn't indicate the overall quality of Service but not so in this thread. A wiggle thread on another forum is like that so I observed that if it says not in stock 2-7 days it probably means don't even try and order. Just cancelled an order from them after 10 days on dmr pedal standard pins and ordered from evans instead who had stock. Now waiting to see if evans can replaced the dmr pedal terror pins labelled as standard or if dmr sent them an entire mislabelled batch (evans don't sell terror pins)
