for fast trails and single track
http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/20103/NS_Core_3_Bike_2009
will uprade the fork to a fox float 100mm in white and possibly wheels to halo freedom disc wheelset and maxxis advantage tyres
or keep it as spec list and just upgrade to maxxis tyres

NS reccommend that you use forks between 120 and 160mm for that frame, i think 100mm forks will really mess the geometry up and make the steering really twitchy, also 100mm is a bit short for trail riding etc. You should get some marzocci 55's or rockshox pikes or lyriks or something. I think pike U-turns would really suit what you are looking for. nice bike though.

Why not get a more out and out XC bike if that what you are using it for?

that's why i say pikes, same price as fox forks, perform just as well and have u-turn. 100mm fox forks aren't going to be taking big hits.

I'd just leave the DJ 3s on and the rims, until they die 4X - they are fine for what you want them for mate....
