That derailleur looks like my older XTR one bottom swing, dual pull.
You got a rear wheel already? What front wheel is it?
I've decided on my WIP I'm just gonna leave it as people weren't that interested and I'll post in a few weeks when it's fully complete and hopefully get more of a reaction.
Looking good so far.

Should I go for a double or triple chainset?

Double 22/36 or 24/38 if you can find them, then check on STW for a guy selling Laser cut titanium bash guards for £20 for 2mm thick, diameter designed for 36 tooth chainrings (if you go the 36 Tooth route)
I've almost finished mine, just need the rear mech and lime green grips to come, it'll make sense when people see it!

Its just I have never had any experience with a double
It would make more sense as I want to do the mega, just not sure how a double would work out for general xc stuff?

I've read on another thread that by having a 36t middle ring you only lose one actual different gear combo than having a 22/32/44 triple set-up.

Paid £200 for the lyriks
Was looking at few on ebay and they all seemed to be going for £350 ish
I am building it up with the mega in mind, but as I can't afford to have 2 bikes I'll just have to see how it works out for the peak district
Probably be far too much bike and heavy, but we'll see

lyriks are 160mm but can be changed in travel depending if you have the 2 step model

yeah, it probably will be too much for me
I'll give it a go though, and if I'm not getting on with it I can always split it and sell it
