Front mech wear?

Been having a few problems setting up my front mech (in particular shifting down from middle to granny). Was checking it out and there seems to be an awful lot of play in it but not sure if it has always been like this.

It is a Shimano FD M510 that has done about 1000Km.

I'm guessing that the pivots in the mech have worn. Is it normal for front mechs to wear like this?

Usually they stiffen up! But wear and sloppy cages can cause rattle and rub.

problems going down to the small cog are normally cable related.
