I don't get what the problem is with it.
Personally I prefer the roar of a big hairy-chested American V8 over an all but silent but probably monstrously more efficient Japanese inline four.

It really isn't that bad...
But quality northen engineering? Just like sturmey archer perhaps, where the tolerances were measured in the number of times you had to hit it with a hammer to get it to fit...

i love the noise of my hope hub and its good for when you come up behind riders on a trail, a quick coast to get it clicking soon makes them get out the way.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about! I ride twice a week with 4 or 5 mates who nearly all have hope hubs and I've never noticed the noise. I did previously ride road bikes with a set of Campagnolo wheels which were renowned for the same noise so maybe I'm just used to it........

there not too bad with a std qr sqewer but are quite loud with a rear axle.

Love the sound of my Hope's too, and so do my mates, who mostly have factory specced Shimano Hubs.
