thinking of geting a pair of these from Santa (the missus),

ive tried them on, along with some specilized shoes and sidi, they seem pretty roomy in the front, my current shoes seem to make my right foot numb, so im guessing the more room should help that problem

anybody got them, or anybody got some thoughts, would be greatly appreciated

I have Northwave and Sidi shoes - 3 pairs of each! - and whilst I like the style of Northwave, for comfort and durability I'd choose Sidi

Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I have the Northwave Aerlite shoes and find them just fine, good fit and well made - although I do a wide feet and found the Sidi much to narrow - I think shoes are just one of those things you must try on and get the ones that fit regardless of what you may have liked to get

If you have wide feet (like me), you may well find the Northwaves are a great shoe. I was using the Shimano R160s and I used to get a bit of numbness across the balls of the feet after long hill climbs or in v hot conditions. With the Northwaves, that's all gone. They're also very adjustable but as others have said, you really need to try them before you part with your hard-earned as everybody's feet are different.

yeah, ive tried them on,

i tied on some look ones to (not impressed, very plasticcy feel)

a pair of specilized pro s, not the boa ones, but with a ratchet strp, they seemed very comfy, really snug, but not alot of room in them in the width, so im afraid they might just make my feet numb again

then the northwaves, as comfy as the specilized, but with added room, i also thought my foot sat better into the heel of the shoe as well

as a matter of interest, if my feet are going numb(well, right foot), should i be looking for a slightly roomier shoe, or more snug?

Depends on whether the numbness is due to blood-flow restriction or pressure applied to your foot by the shoe or the cleat (flexy sole)

Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

im guessing poor shoe, ive no problems when i go running, ive had the bike properly fitted with a video analysis, which included cleat postioning

even thought ive tried them on, im just trying to get as much as info as possible,

i currently have the northwave aerlite 3 and i can highly recommend them.

if you have large/ wide feet (i'm a 47/ 12 but take size 11 shoe) the extra wide area at the front is a great help on longer rides.

i have ridden in shimano and nike carbon shoes in the past and suffered from numb feet after 2-3 hours.i tried sidi and specialised but found them very narrow when trying on,guess that would mean tight when your feet are hot.

ridden close to 4000 miles this year in my northwaves here and in abroad in 100+ degree heat and haven't had any foot pain.

the reports about the new bontrager 2010 carbon shoes are supposed to be very good, the designers have made huge improvements to fit and width at the front.
