Perhaps that's because you don't specifically need to learn to ride a moped (I think anyway). If you can just jump on one and go whizzing about the road your not learning how to ride it in traffic or with courtesy.

Yeah, I really do think the CBT is becoming a bad idea... I know it's needed for learning to ride a motorbike, but they could perhaps put more stringent limits on it...

accident between a car and motorbike according to BBC travel news. Hope the rider is ok.

I work right near there. A colleague went past around 8:15 when an ambulance was in attendance. They said it was a cyclist down, who was having their clothes cut off by the crew for assessment.

Only damage to mini was missing wing mirror!

Whoever was involved hope they make a full and speedy recovery.

Rufus.

The weird thing about the bit just east of Big Ben is that it's either clear and fast moving, or it's absolutely chokka block. There's never a half way house between the two. And when it's chokka, the mopeds block all the filter lines.

The problem there (east and west bound, but more so westbound in my opinion) is the lanes aren't clearly marked to help the flow, and there are car and motorbike parking spaces dotted along the road almost at random. Add in the usual delivery trucks, rubbish trucks etc etc that are loading seemingly morning and evening, and there is a very poor flow of traffic, and lots of section where it's unclear where cars should be positioned - meaning they tend to be all over the place, blocking filter spaces.

Ironically, the same complaint drivers have about cyclists.

you need a cbt (which you don't have to do on a moped. I didn't but that means you've done it on a geared bike)

cbt wont stop someone driving like a cnut, but nor does the driving test as we've all experienced. It simply defines the rules takes you through drills and lets you go through those on the road.

Lit might be right though, if you don't drop it you pretty much pass

Not good news.

As I came in this morning, I noticed a sign on the pavement asking for witnesses to a fatal accident on 20 Oct at 8.15am.

Sh!t. I saw that sign on my way home on Tuesday afternoon and didn't have time to check the date of my post when I got in.

Stay safe out there, folks.

"I got nothing!"
