Just thinking about him after hearing The scientist on the radio. I didn't think Coldplay are good enough considering the hype and adulation. Just a thought........what do you lot think ?

Some years ago Coldplay supported Muse at Sheff Leadmill. After said gig I ended up having a few jars with Coldplay guitarist, drumist & bassist. At the time his bandmates conceded he was a knob.
They'll be a few quid richer now on the back of his tunesmithery but deep down they'll know, we all know.
Knob.

One of my mates* is good friends with all of Coldplay (he was at Uni with them), and he's a top bloke so they can't be all bad.
They're a bit preachy, but they don't seem precious about music, like some people. (For example I know they like X Factor)
Musically they're better than the likes of Keane and Snow Patrol.
*This mate of mine inexplicably (other than pure chance) knows a huge amount of famous people. Even his father in-law is a legend.

Coldplay, Muse, Radiohead are all middle class angst ridden tossers who spend their time bleating about world issues but never donating their entire fortunes to their causes, yet expect joe public too. They are also indie-lite a la Oasis/Blur. Bag of sh!te.

The last time I heard that kind of plaintive keening someone had abandoned a puppy outside in the cold rain.

Well, Coldplay's music just seems to be a bunch of psuedo-emotional songwriting attempts, think they've done a couple of small handful of half-decent tracks but they're not the collosus they're hyped up to be, at least not in the talent-sense.
As for CM... that writing crap on your hand, tree hugging, do-gooding crap ...I can't stand it myself, same with any musician... it just becomes part of their little brand. Oh... their guitarist is shoot too, I know guitar can be good if it just works within a song, in fact that's the whole point in guitar to me (have opinions on that cos Ive played for years) BUT... if they got someone else who's more dynamic then they'd be better I reckon.
Someone mentioned Radiohead in the same breath ...that's a mile off IMO, they might be sh1t now (not 'might be', 'are') but I think that The Bends is one of the best albums of all time (its always up there in polls too) and OK Computer too.
Coldplay are annoying cos they don't seem to realise just how overrated they are.
Right, off to start another musical thread.
SYSTEM TOOLTIP:
You can put a crap sentence here that might help you give the
impression to others that you've got an interesting personality. |

Why is Radiohead crap now? Because they dont use as many guitars as they used to?
That is a poor statement, both Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows are fantastic albums - may be not as good as The Bends or OK Computer but definetely more engaging, interesting and creative than what most other bands out there. Radiohead actually pushes the sound boundaries of mainstream pop and rock and succeeds.
Muse and Coldplay are two fine bands of today though, if you bypass the fact that most of their albums are very similar and the non-stop marketing going on in the radio the music is quite decent.

One of my favourite Peep show quotes is "People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people"
They're complete garbage all their songs just seem so mind numbingly dull to me.

In the Sunday Times Rich List all the members of Coldplay appeared apart from Chris Martin.Either he's given all his money away(if so fair play to him) or he's managed to stash it away!?
Regardless -he's a knob of the first order!
