If you are after a really good wheel Stu that can handle loads of abuse(read air)!!.....then hand built wheels are significantly stronger than machine built ones but they are expensive.....expect to pay around £200+ for a rear handbuilt.

I best get saving then ! Although this does mean I got no choice but to use the singlspeed for Cannock Shocked

Take the wheel off yer singlespeed then.......it's an easy enough job.....

no protection given plus i had help so we took it in turns going on and off
plus that was the lowest temp as it did go up to around -10, so not too bad.
we used hand pump trucks, not got a full fork lift license yet surpose to be doing it in the near future with morrisons

I used to work in a farm (i have a fork truck license) and we had to load the trailers up with pallets of produce within cold storage...the floor was always wet and slippy.....we had a new lad start who had just gained his fork license and he tried to copy us by doing a 360 degree spin before entering an isle between shelving made of dexion.....the silly pratt hit the leg of the dexion and all the shelves fell down like a pack of cards.....i never laughed so much in my life......a/ we told him not to try it........b/ needless to say he lost his job.

Maloo, I'm recommending Mavic XM719 rims on Hope Pro II hubs and DT Competition spokes from Merlin. Costly at about £170 and the Hope Hub should have a cassette with an Alloy carrier (Shimano XT or above or high end SRAM), OR replace the alloy freehub with a steel one. both options cost about the same but changing the Freehub will give you more options and will last a lot longer.

No idea where that is mate. I do recognise the swoopy berm section that Mick refers to in his earlier post tho.

Sorry, edit, Worry Gill is the biggest drop we saw today, at the bottom of the set of log drops & the downhill below it.

Ahhh, the triple black drop that you went down Steve.....

Roo, as Steve said, we dropped into the area along the logs on the Red, the ride along the bottom of the Gully didn't look too bad but the rock drop into it on the WC course just looked mental. We followed the Red out the other side to the fire road and onwards up into the woods again.

Bloody good day, thoroughly enjoyed it and would have no hesitation in recommending Steve to anyone thinking of doing a skills course www.chasingtrails.co.uk. Very interested in his weekend breaks to the 7 Stanes but I think that's something to think about for next year when t'boy is a bit older and less of a handful for his Mum cos she'll be on her own with him while I'm away. Have also been looking at www.sierracycling.com with thoughts for getting away at some point in the future as they have their own Villas where the non-biking members of the family can relax and use the pool while I'd be off throwing myself down lovely dry singletrack Very Happy

JUNE SLOW RIDE

A well planned day involving 3 loops in the Long Mynd hills, centred on the town of Church Stretton in Shropshire for our June outing. This ride is to be led by our new friend Mr Mike Hickey (PuddleRider) who will be joining us for the first time in Cannock.

Sunday 27th June, meeting at 9.30am for a 10am start as usual. Meeting place is the Co-Op car park on the corner of Easthope Road and Lion Meadow. Car Park costs £4.00 for all day.

Had my first experience of the new trail (red route) at Cannock Chase today. I'd been on the old trail a fair bit and always enjoyed it and didn't really know what to expect with the new one and to be honest it's brilliant. Have to say the lads/lasses that put all the time and effort in to building it all have done an amazing job (hats off to them) and the end product is superb. I had a slight fall, got a couple of minor cuts on my right knee (must invest in knee pads and you should definitely take them when you go if you have any) but other than that had a cracking few hours there. Going again on Monday !! You will have a blast on the 15th, i would like to be there but i'm on kiddie watch while the mrs is at work. Can't make the June ride either, going away on the 26th for a week but i'm determined to get to one of the rides and meet you all.

Its 66 miles from my parents house in Birmingham. Unfortunately I will be coming from my barracks in Essex, which makes it 169 miles lol.

Never mind!

I want to ride my bicycle!
