Single sided SPD add on for DMR platform peddle

Postby elredso » Tue Sep 04, 2012 15:30 pm

I have a set of these, that i have used for a fair few years.

Great product, that fitted a standard DMR / welgo platform peddal - and provided a spd attachement on one side, and flat on the other

Mine are pretty old and knackered now - I have a set of the shimano m324 - but believe these are more touring orientated

As such I was wondering if anyone knew where I can get a new set of these add on clips ? Or are they no more ???

failing that - does anyone know of a decent mtb flat peddle with single spd ?

Are you sure it wasn't a plastic clip that turned and SPD into a flat pedal on one side?

It is generally accepted that pedals which are flat one side and spd the other are cr*p. Mainly due to the weight difference in the two sides meaning its hard to clip in but almost guaranteed that when you actually want the flat side its the spd that comes to foot.

That said, the flat bit is also normally a terrible flat pedal - what you are describing sounds better but still falls foul of the neither one thing nor the other therefore fails at both rule. I would be interested to see a pic though!

A bit old and knackered - currently sat on my turbo trainer bike, as I wanted cleats on it and the misses did'nt !

Much preferred them to the touring peddles I currently have - as a decent flatone side and cleat the other + the weight of the cleat add on made the peddles flat up most of teh time, and a slight foot flick switched them over to SDP side

Not getting this - do you have the SPD on the left and the flattie on the right, or vice versa?

nope- same peddle on both sides - except one side of teh peddle is flat, and the other has a single sided spd mechanism, so you can choose clipped or not

They do look a bit better than the standard two sided affairs other people make but.........not good enough.

They're awful. I got them on a bike once. Words can't describe how bad they were.

In what way do they look better? It still has a terrible looking flat pedal attached (moulded, painted pins? yeah, try using that in the wet).

And the clipless mechanism is nearly unuseable.

The only bi use pedals I have seen have been plasic on the non spd side - so metal with pins is an improvement on that.
