This could be something really silly, is the end of the cable to the front derailleur catching on the crank arm at all, I have seen it a few times on a new bike where it is too long and catches the cranks every revolution then pings against the frame. Also happens sometimes with a rear V brake cable catching on your leg on a small frame. If this is the case simply cut it a bit shorter and fit a new cable end. It's so simple that the bike shop can overlook it and be stumped for hours.

Drfabulous0 - Did think of this as had that problem a good few years ago, but my noise also occurs when rocking the pedals back and forth. Tried finding replacement BB casings today on the net and seem like rocking horse crap [:(] unless anyone knows any others that are compatible?

TMG - Did you get GXP casings, if so where did you get them from?

I have XTR so just gor the replacement BB from CRC
