Harlestone Firs Northampton

Postby Clare_M » Wed May 16, 2012 13:55 pm

Hi there,

I luckily live less than 1 mile from Harlestone Firs and ride over there about twice a week mainly during the day. I used to know quite a lot of the trails there, but then they cut a load of trees down and destroyed some of them :(

I have seen plenty of people over there either on their own or in small groups and was wondering if there was a way I could get info on all of the little off the beaten track trails they have there. I am a bit restricted to where I can go as I usually have a 2 1/2 year old strapped to the rear of my bike, but this doesn't stop me from attempting most of them. ;)

I know it'll get suggested to go on an organised ride, but that's difficult with a young child, and as a woman (in her prime, LOL) of 40, I fear I may be holding people back somewhat. Anyone have loads of inside knowledge of the place?

Hi Clare, there is a local mtb club called Treads MTB who are based in northampton.
It would be worth contacting them as many are local riders withs lots of knowledge of harlestone firs etc.
Ive not ridden at the firs for a while now but hope this will change very soon as i must get fit and shift the poundage!

Good luck in your hunt for the trails there are lots around northampton. :)

Mark.

Thanks Mr Bump, will look into contacting them. Always a bit reluctant with organised stuff that I won't be up to speed! I'll give them a contact though...

They are a very friendly club.
If i remember correctly they do monthly 'Beginer' outings so you can get a feel of what to expect.
webby address is: http://www.treadsmtb.co.uk/

I was over at harlestone the other day and was supprised to find alot of the smaller twisty sections have survived the tree felling.
