Orbea Alma Team Carbon

Postby Greer_ » Sun Sep 08, 2013 18:58 pm

Well the Carrera is gone and this is the replacement! It's still a do-it-all bike, not just for racing and it got a good test this weekend at Ballyhoura down south. Still a few things to figure out - I got an agonising hand cramp (it has happened before) on some of the rocky trails so I've been advised to move my position on the bike forward to see it it helps. Overall though, I am extremely pleased with it! :D

It didn't look like ^^that for long. Within 2 hours most of the main bits were fitted, then by the following evening it was ready to ride excluding a front mech!

• Frame: Orbea Alma Team Carbon 2009 (1234g?)
• Forks: RockShox Sid RL 2013 (1443g)
• Pushloc: (83g)

• Front Brake: Shimano Deore M596 (294g)
• Rear Brake: Shimano Deore M596 (309g)
• Rotors: Tektro 160mm (102g x2)
• Rotor Bolts: Superstar Anodised (26g)

• Grips: Superstar Supagripa Patriot (108g)
• Handle Bars: Easton EC70 XC Flat Bar 5deg (121g)
• Stem: Ritchey WCS 4Axis Stem 90mm (116g)
• Headset: FSA semi-integrated
• Headset Spacers: Superstar

• Gear Shifters: SRAM X9 Trigger Shifters (240g)
• Chain: KMC X9-93 (277g)
• Cassette: Shimano XT M770 11-34 (295g)
• Chainset: Shimano Deore M590 44-32-22 (858g)
• Bottom Bracket: Shimano Deore XT Hollowtech ii (90g)
• Chainstay Protector: Shimano XTR (30g)
• Pedals: Shimano XT M780 (352g)
• Front Mech: Shimano XTR (g)
• Rear Mech: SRAM X9 (217g)
• Gear Cables: SP41

• Wheelset Weight: Front: 783g - Rear: 875g
• Rims: Stans Crest (370g x2)
• Hubs: Superstar Switch Evo (195g/299g)
• Spokes: Black Sapim Race DB Spokes (358g)
• Tyres: Schwalbe Rocket Ron/Racing Ralph (448g/536g)
• Tubeless (120g)
• QR Skewers: Superfly Carbon-Ti Ultralight (20g/23g)

• Saddle: Charge Spoon (258g)
• Seat post: Kalloy Alloy 31.6mm
• Seat Clamp: Da Bomb Clamp (22g)
• Bottle Cage: Elite Custom Race Bottle Cage 2013 (41g)

The steerer will get cut down again once I'm happy, and I've also realised I'll need a conventional front mech as the current one sits too high. The picture below is from before it was fitted.

Very nice to! The white rims work really well with white downtube and black forks/rest of frame as well!

It worked out for a mish-mash build! I couldn't afford a bike like that straight up, so I'm really happy that its turned out so well!
