So, who looks particularly lean this year and has a decent wallet on them?

Is the answer "Victoria Beckham"?

I can think of a couple of guys who are particularly skinny this year, have the cash and have good results. Both born in Belgium too.

Having said that, Chinny seems to have put on a few kg since last year and it hasn't done him any harm (though he does have a secret electric motor)

English article here:

http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/11395/Doping-AICAR-Telmisartan-and-the-need-for-vigilance.aspx

In 2009, after the Tour de France, the French anti-doping organization AFLD searched bins and reportedly found remnants of drugs that were “unlicensed”: third generation EPO, also known as Hematide, and AICAR.

“These are products that shouldn’t be found around people who are supposed to be in good health,” AFLD scientific adviser Michel Rieu said then. The AFLD wanted to run more tests on the 2009 urine samples from the Tour but UCI held these samples and, according to Le Monde on July 28th, didn’t grant permission for re-analysis.

Good old UCI... fighting the good fight.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

Hmmmm. Interesting.

just been reading that, be interesting to see who pulls out of big races through 'illness'.

Not wanting to speak bad of the ill, but when I heard about the football player who collapsed on the pitch, I immediately thought: 'what was he taking?'.

Reading the various articles about AICAR makes me wonder about all the riders who are usually packing a bit of timber at this time of the year and are now super lean. I am 'sure' their leanness is all down to good nutritional programs but the doubt is still there..

So do I, I am not that cynical. I didn't realise the severity when I first read the news.

I can think of another rider well known for his amazing thinness in recent years. Rides for a big-budget team and I think he did very well in Paris-Nice this year.

There have been rumours circulating that some riders are getting thin by eating less. Greg LeMond has been very vocal after noticing that the more he ate the fatter he got. There are a lot of riders which have raised my suspicions, that's for sure.

I hope they don't start investigating local 4th cats then as I know with absolute certainty of one person who has followed this course of action. I - oops, I meant they - will probably DNS if the food testers turn up at Llandow!!
