Oh the irony!

I know. But you get where I'm coming from.

Yes, I do. And I suspect the likes of the wealth of supporting testimony that eventually derailed Armstrong would be far harder to produce against Hein and his stooge.

If we fast forward a year are we going to see McQuaid's warts 'n all exposé vying for the William Hill book awards, him urging the reluctant HV to come clean for the sake of his soul... followed eventually by the latter confessing on Zippy from Rainbow's interview sofa on The Shopping Channel?

I'm not sure how the ongoing rehabilitation of LA fits in with the massive lawsuit, but there's a clear long term strategy.
He's basically looking at a bankruptcy and has no serious source of income at the moment. His charity and sponsors have ditched him, he can't race triathlons, the possible career in politics looks shot. So some new venture will be needed, feck knows what (the kiss and tell could net him some bucks though).

But before he can move on into new financial pastures he needs to regain his public. By offering tantalizing hints that he's got dirt to spill and is willing to spill it he's managed to get a whole raft of his fiercest critics on board, to the extent that festinagirl is on DM terms with him now. It also gives him blackmail leverage against those that might be worried they're about to go under the bus, some of whom are incredibly rich and powerful.

At the same time he's saying its up to various governing bodies to get the ball rolling with an amnesty/truth and reconciliation. That's a pipe dream he knows won't happen, so he's safely offering something he doesn't have to deliver and at the same time painting a picture of a sport where corruption and doping weren't just systematized but were institutionalised from top to bottom. So even if we know he was a prime mover at uspostal it was still the system at fault and he's a victim.

Meanwhile, the bullying and sociopathy that were the really toxic themes for him are now being swept under the carpet. Don't expect to see a personal apology to Betsy Andreu or anyone else, that part of the picture is being blurred in the background, he won't want to refocus it unless absolutely necessary.

That's my hypothesis. My predictions based on this are: we won't get any details out of him unless he stands to make buckets of cash out of it, we won't see any apology for or recognition of bullying on the personal level unless its absolutely necessary, we will see a new career venture, we will continue to see as much as possible of the "human" side of Lance - self deprecating humor, bloke that likes a beer, chilled out kinda guy. The Twailban will lap it up because Vaughters has OKed it and because they think they're being offered McQuaid's head on a pole.

All spot on comments Notadoc. I think if I were him I would keep quiet until sued into bankruptcy, then wait that out and do the book then which he will be enriched by..

Perhaps Vaughters historical criticism of the UCI, his suggestions for alternative policies/working practices/structures, his apparent bridge-building with Armstrong - and the latter's recent comments - is leading up to something?

Maybe. But say Armstrong says HV and PMQ did X, its still the word of a world-renowned outed liar vs the Terrible Two. They'll just shrug it off and say he's lying, non?

Would just be like USADA taking the word of liars to take down another one & we know there is still some animosity between Larry, UCI & USADA. So if Larry can get in-between the 2 it might give him some leverage to save his own skin/reputation/money (pick own version)

I think you guys have a handle on this. That would be my scenario. Odd thing about is that if some sort of tell all comes out it will most likely enrich him and the irony of it is that his detractors / haters will most likely pick up a goodly amount of the copies. Then, if the books sells well, there with be all those television appearances and he'll get "compansated" for that. Seems as if all the people who despise him will actually help him in coming back from the "ashes". For lack of a better word.

Did you read Lance's twitter reply today?

He thinks he's all forgotten, best mates with Vaugthers and in a position to actually come with opinion on cycling. He should sit down and shut the hell up and start using some of that energy he still has left from the doping on apologizing to people.

Mark Rechtin ‏@MarkRechtin 8h
It may be the 100th year of @letour, but the deletion of @lancearmstrong promotional footage by @NBCSN means it's actually the 93rd, right?

Jonathan Vaughters ‏@Vaughters 6h
@MarkRechtin @lancearmstrong They're gonna have to delete a few more.

Lance Armstrong ‏@lancearmstrong 6h
@Vaughters like, uh, a 100?

Jonathan Vaughters ‏@Vaughters 5h
@lancearmstrong Don't agree with you there, but a good few more, certainly.

He genuinely still don't see any wrongdoing in what he did.

An no - I'm not even following him on twitter.

Yeah. I had a look at his twitter output this morning from the last few days. JV's Commandment of the first thing you do is to apologise to the fans seems to have been ignored by Lance who's gone straight onto the victim setting. He's also just denied that he was offered a deal to talk :?

Yeah, and he plays the victim card again...

smnb ‏@smnb 17 Jun
hey @lancearmstrong ride it out,it shouldnt be too long till your wrongs are considered in a different light

Lance Armstrong ‏@lancearmstrong 17 Jun
@smnb my wrongs or our wrongs?

Daniel Tomlinson ‏@dpTomlinson 20h
@lancearmstrong @smnb just because everyone else did it doesn't mean you had to. Went from hero to zero, for me at least

Lance Armstrong
‏@lancearmstrong 20h
@dpTomlinson @smnb fair enough. So no heroes for you?

smnb ‏@smnb 19h
@lancearmstrong dont get me wrong i do agree with your ban,for breaking the rules, and only that

Lance Armstrong ‏@lancearmstrong 19h
@smnb so one man gets life and everyone else off scot free? Really?

nunya bidness ‏@nailbomb3 9h
@lancearmstrong @smnb I suppose you could have cooperated with investigation? Just a thought ;-)

Lance Armstrong ‏@lancearmstrong 8h
@nailbomb3 @smnb was NEVER offered that deal

Race Radio ‏@TheRaceRadio 2h
@lancearmstrong What was your response when USADA invited you in to talk? You can't expect to get a deal if you tell them to **** off

C'mon Dennis ... Bosses get dumber, wives get even less good looking than their sisters, someone else still got that parking space close to the entrance at the supermarket ... Folks on here are always gonna need to vent ... So of course they're still at it ...
