Best/funniest Procycling moments for you?

Postby Lichtblick » Fri Oct 05, 2012 18:55 pm

(What I really want to ask is: WHEN will the UCI actually get around to actually stripping LA of those 7 TdF "wins", but since that seems a thread too far),

Hows about naming some of your personal best/funniest, watching those Procyclists, moments?

Me - at random -

Sagan winning stages in this year's TdF. He is funny! He has such real joy in his face and delight at winning! Unlike Le Cav, who is so grimly determined, lead-out train etc etc blah blah. Sagan rocked his way over the finish line. Great!

Vino winning this year's Olympic road race. I laughed and laughed, such an unexpected result.

Renshaw getting thrown out of the TdF for head-butting in 2010.

Incorrect celebrations:

Celebrating a win, but the real winner was up the road and the celebrater didn't know it. (Uran, Davis, Sagan)
Celebrating a win, but getting pipped on the line by a fast finisher (Zabel, Boonen)
Attacking and celebrating a win a lap too early (Westra and others)

None of these will ever stop being funny

I had a good LOL during this years Milan San Remo at Cavendish's grumpy face when he was dropped.

The funniest thing in the last few years was when Armstrong fell off 3 times in a stage, especially at the top of the mountain.

i remember feeling especially cheery the first time Boonen won Flanders because you could see how much it meant to him and he just rode and rode and didn't even bother zipping up his jersey.

I went ballistic when Bettini won the Worlds in Salzburg. Such an amazing finish after one of the dullest races in World's history and a well deserved win for one of the best one day riders of his generation.

Piepoli getting stabbed in the ars* by a rider who nicked DD's trident was amusing.

As was the Vuelta moment where a rider nicked that yank with the headgear's flag and dumped it further down the road.

That was hysterical, especially when he was trudging down the road afterwards.

It was Flecha wasn't it?

How about Cavendish falling on his ars* on the podium of the Scheldeprijs?

Bettini is one of the riders I really wished I could have seen throughout the entire prime of his career. Would have loved to watch him race and he was photogenic on the bike. Having him go stroke for stroke with Gilbert for many years would have been phenomenal. And not one doping stain on him.

I thought this photo from WC12 was funny:

As featured in the worst three time trials ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DCe4QVO0PE

1. Rasmussen
2. Bjarne Riis
3. Some chump from Kenya in the u23s. I doubt he amounted to much

Ummm, wow, where to start on that one. He was a great rider, one of my faves. So smart.

But linked to Puerto, rode for Ferretti, interesting moral position wrt doping...

Ok fair enough. I've never come across anything and he isn't on dopeology.

What went through the minds of the breakaway riders when Cipo bridged up to them here...

Haha, I just came across the photo this week of Hincapie sprinting against Cipo and was wondering where that might have been the case. Now I have my answer.

The guy in the stars and stripes jersey in that clip is Fred Rodriguez, FF, who you were asking about in the "name this rider" thread.

Yes. Sorry wasn't suggesting you'd got it wrong, was just pointing out Rodriguez for you.
