I love Gruissan - good for a weeks holiday in the stilted beach houses ( where they filmed Betty Blue) and sailing . Excellent muscadet and a great bakers/cafe to fuel up before venturing into La Clappe

It's extremely windy today - gusts of up to 85km/h forecast, from the north. No shelter on the coast road either.

I wonder how many riders are going to use deep section wheels (and end up in the dunes!)

Still unclear of the reasons for this - something to do with authorities in St Remy de Provence not ensuring the proper road closures??

According to La Provence, Friday's parcours in the finishing locale of Saint Rémy de Provence couldn't be secured and after failing to find an alternate route, the stage had to be canceled.

Barring that, info on this is very thin on the ground. Seems very suss!

It was cancelled by Prefectural Order due to "unsatisfactory security conditions".

Seems that the reason was a last minute change of mind by the local (Bouches du Rhone) préfecture on the grounds that the probable disruption of traffic, especially in Marseille was unacceptable. The local authorities in Saint Rémy were not happy as they planned a fete to take place to mark the event.

As I said on twitter, they obviously failed to line the pockets of the right people.

Nice win by Peraud on Faron. Quite a lot of time gaps. Mollema in 3rd and Roche in 9th...just behind Rebellin...

Pinot was riding...came in 11th. Has some ugly shoes.

Team Colombia was in attendance. The best they could manage was 15th wiht Chaves. I will excuse them based on the cold...

Nobody from Garmin started yesterday as they had all their bikes stolen.
