Cycle camping tour, East to West coasts

Postby cyclist035 » Wed Jun 13, 2007 11:26 am

Hi, am considering an East to West coast solo cycle camping tour during the summer this year, in order to wet my appetite for a possible Jogle/Lejog next year. Thinking I will probably try to do this is week - 10 days perhaps ?

Looking at Gt Yarmouth area across to Aberystwyth perhaps (both start & end will need trains).

Any advice on possible routes, if anyone has already done this before ? Also, will be my first cycle camping experience, so advice on what to pack, other general comments gratefully considered !

I'd try a weekend away first before you do a full week.

Have a look at www.beewee.co.uk and the Side to Side link - we rode St David's to Lowestoft (farthest west to farthest east in Wales/England) Stopped at B&Bs so can't comment on camping. Trains were no problem. I would ride W to E as there is more chance of the wind being behind you. If you want any help on the route e-mail the link on the website
