indoor trainer: fluid

Postby Likebike-1 » Fri Nov 23, 2012 12:52 pm

Hi all,

I am looking at different options for indoor training. I hear good things about the so calles fluid trainers, like the CycleOps fluid II or Giant Cyclotron fluid ST. I am wondering how mimicing a climb works on such a training machine, since fluid trainers do not have the possibility to change the machine resistance. Will changing the gear with the same speed lead to more or less resistance?

Changing gear and keeping cadence constant will indeed lead to more or less resistance.

Yes, you alter the resistance with your gears on a fluid trainer, not sure I'd attempt "climbing" on a turbo though.....

BTW I ended up buying an Elite Volare, and it fills the need. Doing 3-4h a week on it.
