You work on your bike after you've been read a bedtime story?

Actually, yes. Apparently I don't read 'Snail and the Whale' right so TMP read it to me.

:D Nice. Hope Mum and Disco Chicken are well.
I didn't manage any fettling yesterday as I spent all day decorating and was totally bolloxed. I'm not used to manual labour and after 3 days of it I'm a broken man. Hope to get some fettling time today. Itching to get it finished.

Put some matching bar tape on the winter hack

White bar tape is a pain in the winter. Still, couldn't make that old thing look much tattier.

Cracks in the tiles though. Need to lose some weight, fatty ;)
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

Broke a spoke at the weekend while at home home. Back in London and managed to salvage one of our 'sacrificial' wheel which was damaged in a crash.
Fit like a dream - bit narrower and black, but does the job until I can get a like for like replacement.
Took off the 12-27 (for Bristol Audax, sadly unused) and matching chain, swapped back to the 12-25 for London/Surrey riding. Wonder if I can do the 1.2K strava challenge.
Also slammed the stem, a movement of about 2mm. Wonder what difference it will make?

Web outlook was down so I've completely stripped the Ti frame this morning. Needs a wash. Badly.

Tyre back on repaired wheel. New cassette and chain on the commuter, indexed it and new rear pads too. Was surprised the fronts didn't go first.

Had an annoying rattle coming from somewhere - thought it was some loose tools in the saddle bag, so off that came and went in the rucksack, still rattling!

Get off the bike on Horse-guards and give the rear end a thorough going over, It appears that the rear disc lock nut (center-lock, like a cassette lock-nut) had come completely free!!!

Yikes!

All fettled now and I adjusted the brakes and cleaned and lubed the chain for good measure.

Finished the Kinesis, I think. I was wrapping bar tape when I got the call to kiss my daughter goodnight, so I haven't checked everything.
So I could ride the MTB to work or ride the green beastie. Got to be green, I'll just take it easy until I'm sure nothing is about to fall off.
Pictures tomorrow I hope. Best if Rubertoe tries not to look.

Sorry, it was lovely. Needed a couple of minor adjustments, but nothing fell off. Needed to bed the brakes in a bit more. I must have looked a bit strange riding through Bushy Park slowing down almost to a standstill, then riding off again.
One of the criteria for my new bike was the ability to take a rack and guards. Seems criminal to put such things on it now.

Once it gets a bit mucky, i'm sure it will be fine for rack and guards...

Rode the bike home and made a few final adjustments upon my return. Stopped en route and took a quick snap in the park, not a great picture but that's all I've got for now. Rubertoe look away now.
