Sudden Impact

Postby Nick Cod » Sun Nov 18, 2012 10:12 am

So I headed out this morning intending to do the usual 30 miles, nothing too hard. However 2 miles in after climbing my first hill I felt awful. My stomach started to turn and I became really light headed. I had to stop and decided to head home.

First time back on the road bike in about three weeks but I've been out on the mountain bike when inbetween so I'm left wondering why I came to a sudden stop this morning :?

Were you wearing a HR monitor? Anything unusual on it? Did the stomach pains go away when you stopped?

We all have off days but having to call quits after 2 miles sounds like something else. Might be worth trying to see your GP and chatting through it with him/her. All the symptoms will need to be discussed along with the context of your own health profile; I cannot see how anyone on here can say with any authority what might have been your problem today.

This. However, sometimes these things just happen, your body can't be arsed and it's telling you that. I get it every now and then when running, it's just my body telling me to have a rest.

When I stopped I was feeling light headed and for a spit second wanted to sit down but given the cold weather this morning I knew it wasn't a good idea. Only being two miles from home I knew I should be ok to make it back without a call to Mrs Cod. Since I've been home stomach has been ok but I've not been feeling 100%.

Just a bit of a shock this morning as I was feeling fine when I left the house but went downhill, pardon the pun, after a short time and what should have been a chilled out Sunday spin.

I've felt the same before. Can't say for sure though why you may have felt like this.

Maybe it was the temperature shock to your body or the that you attacked the hill a little too hard so early into your ride.
